ZoloGo is six Minnesota musicians playing the music of
rural southwest Louisiana - hot kickin' zydeco that gets dancers
jumping and listeners grinning.
ZoloGo is zydeco music: fast, electric dance music, featuring
accordion and rubboard. ZoloGo plays zydeco in the style of Boozoo Chavis,
Geno Delafose and Keith Frank, yet adds slide guitar and four-part vocals.
The music of ZoloGo is hard driving, with a few waltzes and slinky grinders
thrown in to let dancers catch their breath. ZoloGo: funky, rocking and
fun, whether you're dancing or just looking for a good time.
ZoloGo is:
-
Mike Bruns - guitar
-
John Curtiss - drums, vocals
-
Dick Danaher - accordion, vocals
-
Mark Johnson - rubboard, vocals
-
Josephine Griffith - bass
-
Gabriella Sweet - slide guitar, vocals
Joel Johnson traces his accordion tendencies and his dance
obsession to a polka loving father*. Joel and his brother Mark Johnson
- on rubboard, share a love of music ranging from classical to funk. Drummer,
dancer, and vocalist John Curtiss was a founding member of the blues band,
Inside Straight. Bassist Jim Seaberg played guitar for the Seattle Cajun
band, Cayenne.* Guitarists Mike Bruns (who has played with Cooker John,
Exploding Head Trick, and other bands) and Gabriella Sweet punch up the
intensity of ZoloGo, inciting the crowd to dance with an attitude.
